FSS (Flexible Service System)
Mercedes-Benz vehicles (1998 and newer) follow a maintenance protocol called the Flexible Service System (FSS). The service schedule under FFS will vary depending on driving habits. When a service interval is approaching, a notification will appear on the instrument cluster. This notification provides the remaining mileage until service is due. Once the suggested service due has been exceeded, the wrench symbol, plus the message “EXCEEDED BY” will appear, when the ignition key is in position 2.
Service A & B
Maintenance is due when you are prompted by indicators on the control panel of your vehicle. When a single wrench illuminates on your control panel, this means it is time for an A-Service with an optional tire rotation. We recommend a B-Service when you have driven 6,000 to 10,000 miles after the A service.
Service A:
Service B:
Service B is recommended every 20,000 miles, or one year after a previous service, applying to vehicles model year 2009 and newer. However, to ensure your Mercedes longevity, we recommend B service be done between 6,000 and 10,000 miles after previous service. In addition to all areas covered in Service A, Service B includes:
About MBMS Service (or Mercedes-Benz Maintenance Service)
Mercedes service on models from 2005 include services labeled either A-H or AX-BX (model dependent) which indicates various levels of needed maintenance. A service sheet is compiled by vehicle and the displayed letter sequence.
We also recommend the following Mercedes services on the basis listed:
Brake fluid:
Coolant should be checked for sufficient protection:
Fuel filters require replacement:
Fluids in Differentials:
Spark Plug Intervals:
* We recommend doing the plugs in these engines at 60,000 mi due to problems removing them and related “check engine” light issues from extended service terms.
